Permanent Electric was launched in 1981 when owner and founder Terry Roberts, who had finished his apprenticeship in 1971, decided to pursue his ambitions to own and operate an electrical company.
His vision was to provide quality and skilled workmanship to the community of Sault Ste. Marie and the surrounding Algoma area.
Although Permanent Electric originated in the basement of Terry’s home, the company soon grew to have a well-known reputation for offering quality services and professional expertise. It was not until 2012 that Terry decided to pass on the baton to his long-time employee and Master Electrician Mike Vallee and his son, Electrician, Steve Roberts. Steve and Mike purchased the company together and Terry remains involved with Permanent Electric as the original founder.
Steve Roberts began working for his Dad's company at the age of 14 and kept working part time throughout highschool and University, be it summers, weekends and holidays. After graduating University with a double major in English and History and a degree in Education, Steve returned home from Nova Scotia, where he also played for the University's football team. He began working full time for Permanent Electric and received his certificate of Qualification in 2009.
Mike Vallee was born and raised in Sault Ste. Marie. Always being fond of working with his hands, he took an interest in the trades at an early age. Upon graduating highschool, Mike was hired at Phase 4 Electric and began his apprenticeship. In 1997, Mike joined the staff at permanent electric, where he completed his apprenticeship and is now a Master Electrician.
